A few years ago, when I first got my digital camera, I seized an opportunity to take a snap of the moon through the small refractor telescope I had on loan at the time. It was about near to six in the evening, in summer here, (still pretty light at that hour) and the moon was waxing to half full at the time, and well...here is the result. I have been dying to share it with you all. I must say, I was gobsmacked at how well it turned out, and my first even attempt at a astro picture as well! It's been my pride ever since.

I can say I did not expect my first attempt to work out like this. I think I was a little gobsmacked for a couple of centons..lol. Thanks hon for your kind appreciation.
Oh and btw, I never touched it up with photoshop or anything like that. How you see it, is how it was snapped with the camera, and nothing more. Although a member on the astro site I belong to, mentioned that more detail could be brought out with some photoshop magic. But even they(and these guys are way more expeirienced with astro photography than I ever would be, and they take more exciting photos of galaxies and stars and nebulai and such), said that my pic was pretty good for my first attempt! A proud moment in my life.

That is amazing. 'WOW" My brother is into astronomy and also has a telescope. What kind of digital camera do you have Siress? I have a Fuji A860 that my brother and sister-in-law gave me for Christmas a while back. It takes amazing photos.

Thank you Athene, I think I still don't believe I actually took that photo..lol I own a Pentax Optio S4i digital camera. It was actually my second eldest brother's former camera, but he bought a new one with more features that he requires for his own work(he's a graphic designer) and gave me this one a few years back. It was still practically brand new. He's a great brother.
They are amazing little gadjets for taking great snaps indeed!

Pentax is a very good camera indeed. Have you thought of taking up photography? You have a real talent for it.

Thanks Empress. The encouragement means a lot! Wish I could do astro pics of more such as nebulai etc...but you need a real fancy telescope and filters for that! Athene, photography would really only be just a hobby. I don't even consider it a real hobby...I just take the camera and snap! Well, some thought goes into it if it's something special like this. But even then, I just lined up the camera lense to the telescope lens and snapped..lol I think I may have put ithe camera on some special feature setting though..like for distant landscapes or something, and Viola! It was fun and exciting. But I'm afraid Hubble and Speitzer will out do me any day!
