When you're hanging out ( ) for a good delicious home-made mushie like you remember your mother making for you in your childhood, back on your home colony, here is my own mother's tried and tested recipe she always makes. Now you too can make it and enjoy our colonial treat with your friends and family ! Method: Take a medium size stainless steel bowl or saucepan, dissolve 2 dessert spoons of gelatine in 1 cup of fresh pre-boiled water from your kettle. Then add 2 cups of castor sugar in this mixture and beat with electric hand beater until thick. Add a few drops of food colouring of your choice (eg. pink, blue, green, yellow, purple etc) or leave as plain white, and flavour with a few dashes of vanilla essence or other essences if you prefer (eg. strawberry essence, chocolate essence, lemon essence, etc). Mix colour, and essence in well. Pour the mushie mixture into a lightly greased baking pan or tray about 2-3 cm deep. Allow mushies to set in refrigerator in the ship's galley for a few hours or until firm to the touch of a clean fingertip. Slice into rectangular slices with a clean sharp knife and present on a colonial silver serving tray. Now sit back, kick off your flight boots, with a tray of fresh mushies on your coffee table and take in the sights of the stars that are home to the present galaxy we now cruise through! Bon appetit!
