Hi, I thought I would kick off and share some of my art work here . I am a self taught artist/designer and have my own website at www.lotussunrise.comI create original designs for soft furnishings using unbleached calico fabric as my medium for wall hangings, cushion covers, tablecloths, bags, and sometimes other items. I have always taken art through school and have inherited artistic genes from both of my parents. I learned fine art, on my own, painting landscapes mostly from a young age, and more recently during my mid-twenties learned a style of art known as "Line Art", influenced from the medieval art of Sri Lanka. Although you will find line art has been used all over the world in all medieval art, extensively employed with creeper work and motifs. It really is more of a universal style of art. However, today I wanted to share a piece that I created as just a "One Of", inspired by Egyptian art,(which I have held a long affection for), in a small wall hanging. It is of the Egytian Cat Goddess, Bastet. I was inspired actually to make this, just after my beloved pet British Blue cat passed away after 17 long years with us, as our family member...not just a cat. She was very special to me and I was heart broken when she died after a illness. I missed her terribly. So I thought to kind of revere her memory in this painting. Hoping that Bastet would be by her side now .

Sarika, those are so beautiful and I teared up at how much love you poured into that artwork. I love that sweet little cat and one day all our family members will be reuntied! I miss my baby Phantom (a/k/a Fuzzy) so much that I long for the time I'll hold him again.
We had him since birth when our Mama Kitty had six kittens; he's always been with us. He lived only ten years but everyday our cats were given tons of love and attention but you know how it is, you know that you can go on forever just spoiling them with cuddles and kisses.
Your artwork in those photos was so beautiful that it made me cry. Thank you Siress for sharing this very personal tribute with us. I gotta do an Egyptian theme for one of the skins.

Thank you so much dear Mistress! I alwasy appreciate people's thoughts on my art. It's wonderfully encouraging! Indeed, I can tell you I cried out my heart when my beloved cat passed away. And I had several dreams of her, and it was simply her visiting me in dreams in her best state, in no more pain or sickness. She looked so young again and perfect. I still miss her. She had the most unique personality! This picture has a resemblance to her. The dark grey fur and orange eyes... I like to think of her as little angel now too.. I can well understand how you felt after your loss of your pet cats. But here's a little poem I found long ago and it gave me a sense of great comfort and peace of mind, because pets really become a part of you, and you really miss thier absence when they are gone. Hope this brings you the same peace of mind and comfort too. Oh and P.S, that would be really cosmically cool to have a Egyptian theme skin, that's a fabulous idea Nacky! Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together…

Those are wonderful Siress. I also have two cats. My heart goes out to you Nacky and to you Siress on the loss of your pets. They are like family. I don't what I'd do if I lost mine. I love them so much.

Your're Most Welcome and Thank You. I think your Egytian inspired art would be wonderful as images or background in a skin.
